Edward N. Templeton
June 5, 1944 ~ September 16, 2009
Our beloved father and husband Edward N. Templeton, passed away the evening of September 16, 2009. Born in Los Angeles California Ed, lovingly called Butchie was the oldest son of seven children born to Edward L. Templeton and Katie C. Templeton. From a young age he was taught the importance of family values. He always said "Family Comes First." That is also, how he lived his life. His family not only included his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews, but also extended to friends and co-workers as well. He took his role of provider very seriously. Everyone knew that if they were in need, they could call Ed. He would do all that he could to make sure that they would be taken care of. He did this effortlessly because it was the right thing to do.
Butch was proud to serve in the in the United States Navy. He completed 3 tours in Vietnam, as a Cook, MP, and Airplane Mechanic. He loved to work with his hands and was the go to guy for vehicle repairs. He especially loved the feeling of the wind on his face as he rode his motorcycle The Blue Dragon. He had a true affection for dogs, especially Great Danes. Some of his other interests were reading, collecting weaponry, cooking and had a real passion for tattoo art. Some would say that he was a true artist when working with metal. He could fabricate anything he wanted. As a Machinist for the Port of Portland, he would design and create the replacement parts for the cutters and proceed to rebuild them. The Port of Portland still honors him by using the same methods. Everyone recognized him in the shop, by the red reflective "Boss Hoss" on his hard hat, as well as the label on his welding hood. He is described as being "Quite the character". Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Edward L. Templeton and Katie C. Templeton, and his siblings, Raymond, Frank, and Tommy.
He was survived by his wife; Addie. Daughters and spouses: Latrice, DaShawn Eric, Ebony, and Amber. Grandchildren; D'Jon, Solomon, Joshua, Sydney, Bryce, Seraiah, Matthew, Sarah and Sinoi. Siblings and spouses; Katie Jim, Danny, Terry and Bill. Nephews and spouses; Albert Joyce, Tommy, and Chris. Niece; Terry and a host of other nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. Ed's life was a one of a kind testament of sacrificial love, strength, honor and integrity. Those he touched will never forget his wisdom, laughter and selfless giving. He possessed an unconditional love for his family and friends. Ed will continue to be deeply loved and sorely missed by all. |
