JOHN CLIFFORD MILLER JR June 23, 1923 ~ July 4, 2009 John Clifford Miller JR., 86, of Portland, Oregon died July 4th, 2009 in a Portland care facility. John was born June 23, 1923, in Horry County, South Carolina. The son of John and Mattie Shelley Miller. He was raised in South Carolina and joined the United States Navy on September 15, 1942 and served until December 19, 1945. He married Catherine Puckett on September 5, 1945 she would preceded him in death on April 20, 1987. John worked for the US Robber Company for 18 years from 1949 to 1967. He then went to work for the Portland Public Schools doing maintenance from 1972 to 1989. He married Maria Joan Chinakos on January 14, 1994. He was member of East Gate Masonic Lodge, #155 AFAM, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite - Orient of Oregon, Al Kader Shriners, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Gateway Lodge #2411, John is Survived by: Wife: Maria Joan Miller Daughters: Arlene Anderson, Terrie Miller, Bonnie Babcock 5 Grandchildren A Masonic Funeral Service will be held on 11:00am, Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at Farnstrom-Gable Funeral Chapel, Portland, Oregon. A private burial will be later today at Willamette National Cemetery, in Portland, Oregon Memorial contributions can Providence Cancer Center.

I remember when Miller bought me an RC Cola at the Flamingo Hotel restaurant in 1987 for .65 cents. He always wore the most colorful polyester jump suits and hand a resemblence to Jerry Lee Lewis.
